Laser Treatments

Laser dentistry is one of the most exciting areas of modern dentistry. Our Doctors and hygienists have been trained and certified in the latest soft tissue lasers.

One of the most remarkable applications for the laser involves cold sores and fever blisters. Cold sores are groups of blisters on the lip caused by the herpes simplex virus. They recur periodically because of stress, illness, or an injury.

A canker sore is a shallow painful ulcer in the mouth that can also occur for previously noted reasons. Cold sores and canker sores can be extremely painful and can make speaking and eating very uncomfortable.

Laser therapy is a proven, economical way to heal these sores quickly. If you schedule a laser treatment at the very first tingle signaling that a cold sore or a canker sore is about to erupt, you can even prevent it from breaking out. If you already have a sore, the laser will take away the discomfort and help it dry up and heal much faster.

Tongue Tie Release

It is estimated that up to 10% of people may have a lip or tongue tie. This means that their tongue and or lip are attached to the mouth with excessive restrictive tissue. This excess tissue impedes the movement of the tongue or lips and can cause a variety of issues. In infants, this can be a significant issue causing feeding difficulties for babies and mothers. There is also poor weight gain and digestive issues often accompanied by chewing, speaking, and swallowing problems.  Lip ties are similar in nature in that they may cause feeding difficulty in babies and speech issues. The good news is that these both can dramatically be corrected in one visit with a soft tissue laser.

The advantages of the laser are

  • Virtually no bleeding

  • The laser kills bacteria so infections are rare

  • Healing is very rapid
